Series producer Eiji Aonuma showcased the first gameplay of the updated The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 and announced that the game will be released on November 5. Shortly after the presentation, a detailed graphics comparison between the original Nintendo 64 version and the upcoming remake for the next-generation console appeared online.
A Complete Reimagining of the Classic
Link's legendary 1998 adventure returns with completely overhauled visuals, full voice acting for cutscenes, expanded character dialogues, a symphonic orchestral soundtrack, and reworked camera and character controls.
The first print run of physical copies will receive special festive packaging with a textured foil cover, available in limited quantities.
Key Innovations and Improvements:
- Enhanced graphics and performance: the visual component has been rebuilt from scratch, including material textures; load times are faster, and the game runs significantly smoother accompanied by re-recorded orchestral music.
- Convenient controls: new buttons have been added for free running and jumping, as well as full right-stick camera control.
- Deeper immersion in Hyrule: all characters received voice acting in story scenes and have more lines of dialogue. The day-and-night cycle now transitions seamlessly even inside towns.
- Threads of Time: a new progress and objective tracking system that gradually fills out a large magical tapestry as you advance through the game.
- Ocarina melodies: the ability to hum learned melodies or use special ocarina accessories releasing later this year.
