Classic bullet hell returns on physical media
Publisher Alliance Arts and developers Shanghai Alice Reprise have announced the physical release of Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic – the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. The remaster of the legendary bullet hell shooter from the Touhou Project series, previously released digitally, will arrive on cartridges for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on December 17, 2026, in Japan.
What will be included in the physical edition:
- Game cartridge for the selected console (Switch or Switch 2);
- Download code for the original classic 2002 version of the game;
- Download code for the soundtrack app;
- Reversible cover in the style of the 2002 release;
- Themed stickers featuring characters and bullet patterns;
- "Marisa’s Guide to Resolving Incidents" guidebook booklet.
This is a great opportunity for fans of the franchise and collectors to add the cult classic to their library with modern and authentic packaging.
