The developers of the popular MOBA Pokémon UNITE have announced the shutdown of the project. The game's servers on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices running iOS and Android will be permanently shut down on March 23, 2027.
Changes to Monetization and Subscriptions
In preparation for the shutdown, corresponding restrictions have already come into effect in the game:
- Starting October 27, 2026, the sale of the paid currency Aeos gems has been completely halted. Players can spend their accumulated gems right up until the final shutdown.
- The sale of new UNITE Club memberships has been stopped, and automatic renewals have been disabled. Current subscribers will retain their benefits until the end of their paid period.
Farewell Content and Data Retention Feature
The development team expressed their gratitude to the trainers who have been with the project since its release in July 2021. As a farewell, several activities await players:
- On November 12, 2026, a major update will be released featuring a final special event, during which players can unlock licenses and Holowear outfits released throughout the game's entire lifespan.
- A "Library" feature will be added to the game. By downloading all necessary data before March 23, 2027, players will be able to view their own achievements and the in-game archive even after the servers are shut down (without the ability to participate in matches).
- The esports tournament Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo will take place as scheduled, with qualifying stages kicking off on December 5, 2026.
