Indie developer and publisher Retreaux Games has officially announced the release of the comedy retro JRPG A Snail’s Tale on the Nintendo Switch console. The game is scheduled for release on November 11, 2026.
The project combines the atmosphere of classic 90s turn-based role-playing games, cozy gameplay, and absurd humor. Players will take on the role of Samson Spligglebarp, a novice warrior who finds himself drawn into King Philip's bizarre predicament: the monarch is relentlessly pursued by an immortal snail that will never stop.
A Snail’s Tale Game Features:
- Retro JRPG-style adventure: classic 90s-era pixel art and turn-based side-view battles.
- Five unusual classes: available options include the fish-wielding fighter Codwalloper, the Souschef who cooks enemies, and the Oilist dealing in essential oils.
- ZEST combat system: build up the ZEST meter to temporarily boost the heroes' stats in battle.
- Cozy activities: take a break from saving the world with fishing, side quests, or dojo challenges.
- Absurd fantasy comedy: a whimsical story with eccentric characters and the slowest, yet deadly threat.
