Nintendo demonstrated fresh gameplay footage and shared a large number of new details about the remake of the iconic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the next-generation Switch 2 console.
Main innovations and game features:
- Updated graphics and camera: the visual style combines modern detail with the nostalgic aesthetics of the original, and the camera can now be freely rotated using the right stick.
- Controls and movement: Link can now jump manually by pressing the X button. Holding down the A button makes the hero first do a roll and then transition into a fast run. Quick item swapping is implemented with a single button, and gyro controls are available for aiming the slingshot.
- Audio and voice acting: the soundtrack has been completely re-recorded featuring a live orchestra. Cutscenes received full voice acting, and the fairy Navi sounds fresh, commenting on your actions with unique lines.
- Switch 2 interactivity: you can now hum ocarina tunes directly into the console's built-in microphone — the game will recognize the melody and perform the corresponding magical action.
- Living world: time now flows even inside towns, such as Hyrule Castle Town, where new mini-games, dialogues, and rumors among the townspeople have appeared.
- Convenience and features: added the "Threads of Time" feature that tracks story progress and suggests next tasks, the ability to fill in a themed tapestry during the playthrough, as well as support for the "Zelda Notes" app.
The release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 is scheduled for November 5, 2026.
