The Switch 2 version of the iconic game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has received a number of interesting improvements and innovations. In addition to the ability to hum ocarina melodies via the console's built-in microphone, players have discovered another hidden musical secret that Nintendo did not officially announce.
How the musical vibration works
When playing the ocarina using regular buttons, the controller provides haptic feedback thanks to the updated HD Rumble 2 system. As it turns out, this is not just random vibration:
- The HD Rumble 2 motors in the Joy-Con 2 and Pro Controller 2 vibrate at the exact same frequency as the notes played.
- If you place the controller on a hard surface (such as a wooden table), the sound from its vibration literally plays the ocarina melody.
This subtle Easter egg demonstrates the extraordinary precision of the next-generation console's haptic feedback actuators and shows Nintendo's signature attention to detail in classic re-releases.
