An unusual exclusive for Xbox fans
The console wars have taken a new and rather amusing turn in the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Activision announced the "Inner Circuit" weapon blueprint for the M4 rifle as a digital pre-order bonus for the game. However, the Xbox version has a feature that users on other platforms literally will not be able to see.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of Xbox, players on this console will receive the weapon in a translucent green design with corresponding branding on the magazine. Meanwhile, on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC, this same skin will be displayed in a standard military style.
A skin invisible to opponents during crossplay
Most unusually, the exclusive visual is completely local. If an Xbox owner encounters a player on Switch 2 or PlayStation 5 in a match, the opponents will see a standard military version of the M4 in their hands. The display of the cosmetic is tied exclusively to the platform on which the game is running.
The exclusive design does not provide any gameplay advantages—the stats and attachments are completely identical across all platforms:
- 11.5" Shortline Barrel — improves mobility at the cost of recoil control;
- FTAC Dominion Muzzle — reduces vertical and horizontal recoil;
- FSS Fireline Grip — stabilizes firing;
- SZ Prima-4 Dot Optic — compact red dot optic;
- ZLR ASP50 Stock — lightweight stock to increase movement speed.
The release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled for October 23 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.
