El Presidente is preparing for another triumphant return! The publisher presented a story trailer for the upcoming economic strategy game Tropico 7, which has been officially announced for the Nintendo Switch 2 console. The game's release is scheduled for January 28, 2027, and the port to the new platform is being handled by the Engine Software team.
Features of Tropico 7 Special Edition for Switch 2
The Tropico 7 Special Edition is being developed with a focus on the unique capabilities of the next-generation hybrid system. Players will be able to manage their own tropical paradise both from the couch and in handheld mode thanks to optimized functionality:
- Mouse control support on Joy-Con 2 controllers for exceptional precision during island planning and construction.
- GameChat integration, enabling communication with friends via voice chat or screen sharing directly during gameplay.
- A large-scale campaign across five maps featuring a new enemy — Victoria Guerra.
New Dictator Tools
Tropico 7 expands the series' signature formula: full-fledged terraforming will appear (rerouting rivers, building new islands, and demolishing mountains), an updated Faction Council for political manipulation, an improved military system with direct unit control, as well as even deeper customization of El Presidente's appearance and palace.
