Another Triumph for Sonic and Shadow
SEGA has officially announced a significant milestone: global sales of the platformer SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS have exceeded 3 million copies across all platforms combined.
The game originally debuted on the original Nintendo Switch in October 2024, and in June 2025 received an updated version for the next-generation console — Switch 2.
What Brought Success to the Project?
SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS combined a classic title with brand-new content:
- Full Shadow Campaign: a storyline with new Doom Powers, an open hub world in the style of Sonic Frontiers, and battles against the villain Black Doom.
- Updated Remaster of Sonic Generations: a complete visual enhancement of the hit game featuring classic 2D and modern 3D Sonic gameplay, as well as additional bonus content.
The successful release across multiple generations of Nintendo consoles and other platforms once again confirmed the enduring popularity of the iconic franchise.
