Grab a bucket and get ready for a very unusual fishing experience: the charming indie hit Sip Fisher has officially arrived on the Nintendo Switch console! Publisher Alchemy Games has brought the project by studio Syphon Software to the hybrid platform, following its nomination for “Best Student Game” at the prestigious IGF festival and winning over PC players.
A straw instead of a fishing rod
In Sip Fisher, players take on the role of an unusual angler armed with a giant drinking straw, a bucket, and an irresistible urge to drain the local lake. The game's concept is simple yet incredibly addictive: you stun a school of fish, literally “slurp” them through the straw, gather resources, upgrade your gear, and repeat the process on an even larger scale. Interestingly, the fish-stunning mechanic was inspired by Elden Ring, making Sip Fisher perhaps the only cozy game with a touch of Soulslike mechanics.
Key features of the project:
- Unique gameplay: stun your catch and drink it through a straw.
- Plenty of upgrades: upgrade your gear in a classic, hard-to-put-down incremental loop.
- Large, cozy lake: explore the body of water at your own pace and discover what hides around the next bend.
- Critical acclaim: the project evolved from a summer student experiment to an IGF nomination.
The game is available on the digital Nintendo eShop at a pleasant price of just $5.99.
