The cult classic of the GameCube era is preparing for an unexpected return. An early leak of information about Shrek 2 Remastered—an updated version of the popular 2004 game—has surfaced online.
What is known about the remaster?
The original Shrek 2 game was released in 2004 and gained cult classic status, particularly thanks to the Nintendo GameCube version. Aspyr studio, known for many successful re-releases of classic titles, is responsible for updating the project for modern consoles.
The information became known thanks to a prematurely published store page for the game in the Xbox digital store. Among the key new features mentioned are:
- Enhanced graphics and adaptation for modern screens;
- A new photo mode (Photo Mode);
- An official cheat mode (Cheat Mode);
- Various quality-of-life (QoL) improvements.
There has been no official announcement for Nintendo family consoles yet, but given Aspyr's release history, the green ogre's appearance on the Nintendo platform is only a matter of time.
