"The Reign of Talon" story arc in Overwatch is reaching its climax. Blizzard has officially launched a massive Season 5 mid-season update that concludes the year-long storyline and sends Doomfist and the Overwatch squad to Rialto to put an end to Vendetta's plans.
Main Mid-Season Features
A vast amount of new content, limited-time events, and cosmetic items await players:
- "Taking Reign" Event (November 3 – December 7): The finale of the story arc with a 24-tier reward pass. The free track includes an Epic skin for Sigma, while the paid Event Pass offers the Legendary Resurgence Doomfist skin, new Vendetta weapons, and more.
- Overwatch x EVE Protocol Collaboration (November 3 – 17): Futuristic themed skins for Widowmaker (EVE), D.Va (Lily), Freya (Raven), Vendetta (Tachy), and Soldier: 76 (Adam).
- Necrotic Knight Roadhog Mythic Skin (from November 3): A sinister knight look for Roadhog featuring four levels of customization.
- Return of the "Excavation" Initiative and Junkrat's Loot Hunt (November 20 – 23): Double XP and up to 9 reward loot boxes.
- Drives Mode (December 3 – 7): Separate progressions for Competitive and Quick Play modes.
- Black Friday Vault Sale (November 3 – December 7): Rare cosmetic bundles at discounted prices.
Additionally, from December 2 to December 6, the OWCS World Finals esports tournament will take place in Guangzhou, during which viewers will be able to earn extra in-game rewards via Cheer Rally.
