Moon Studios, known for the Ori dilogy, shared fresh details about the upcoming major 1.0 update for its dark soulslike action RPG No Rest for the Wicked in a new episode of the "Wicked Inside" developer diaries.
New Class System and Factions
The developers decided to abandon the classic stat system in favor of flexible class mechanics. Now, a character's class is determined by the weapon they hold in their hands:
- 24 unique classes and 362 traits that can be combined with each other.
- Skill synergy: players will be able to create deadly builds by combining abilities from different directions.
- 6 factions of the island of Isola Sacra: each with its own story questlines, merchants, and special rewards.
- Cerim Cores: a system of stamina modifiers and unique perks (such as lifesteal or attack speed boosts).
Version 1.0 Release and Plans for Switch 2
Update 1.0 will nearly double the size of the game, adding new locations, enemies, bosses, and a revamped loot system. The full release of No Rest for the Wicked on PC and PlayStation 5 is planned for March 2027, and the game will later also be released on Switch 2.
