A Complete Reimagining of the Classic
The developers of the highly anticipated remake of the iconic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time have shared new details about the game's creation process. The team officially confirmed that the entire project is being developed completely from scratch, without using the original's source code.
Why Is the Game Being Built from Scratch?
Usually, during remake development, studios take the original codebase as a foundation and improve upon it. However, in the case of Ocarina of Time, Nintendo decided to completely abandon this approach. The main reason is that nearly three decades have passed since the release of the original game on Nintendo 64, and modern technology demands a fundamentally different approach to game architecture.
- Complete overhaul of all assets and world geometry from scratch
- A modern game engine optimized for current standards
- Preserving the spirit of the classic with a large-scale update to gameplay mechanics
This approach will allow both series veterans and newcomers to experience Link's beloved adventure in the best possible quality.
