The Magic of Co-op Play from Day One
Recent weeks have brought plenty of great news for those who have been waiting years for the witchy RPG Witchbrook from studio Chucklefish. Following the announcement of the release date (the game launches on January 28), the developers shared another important detail: users of the original Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2 will be able to freely play with each other right on launch day.
A Change of Plans in Favor of Players
As noted by publication Smash Jump, the developers initially stated on the official Witchbrook Discord server that crossplay between the two console generations would not be ready in time for the premiere and would be added in future updates. However, just a week later, the situation changed for the better—the developers clarified:
- Crossplay between Switch 1 and Switch 2 will be available right from day one.
- Players on both platforms will be able to explore the magical town together, attend classes, and build up their homesteads without any restrictions.
This move will significantly expand the multiplayer audience and allow friends to play together regardless of whether they have upgraded to the Switch 2.
