Nintendo Explores the Indian Market Through Its First Official Event
Nintendo has repeatedly emphasized its desire to expand its presence in regions where its products are not yet officially represented. Recently, the Japanese giant took an important step in this direction by holding its first-ever event in India.
The event took place at the R City Mall in Mumbai. Visitors were able to test the Nintendo Switch hybrid console for free and play hit titles such as Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In addition to demo zones, guests were given themed gifts: sun visors, stickers, and Mario stationery folders.
First Results and Future Plans
Despite the opportunity to play, purchasing the console or cartridges on-site was not possible, as the Nintendo Switch has not yet officially launched in India. However, company representatives actively gathered audience feedback:
- About 70% of the event guests were completely unaware of plans for the presentation and came across it by chance, which particularly interested Nintendo staff.
- Visitors were invited to fill out a questionnaire with questions about whether they were familiar with the brand, whether they owned Nintendo consoles, how they rated the games, and what they thought the price of the device should be.
- According to attendees, Nintendo plans to continue organizing events in India, laying the groundwork for a full-scale market entry.
