During a Q&A session with investors, Nintendo management commented on the company's approach to innovation and confirmed active experiments with a completely new gaming experience for the Switch 2 console.
Symbiosis of hardware and software
One investor asked whether the company plans revolutionary solutions similar to the introduction of the Wii Remote in the past. Company President Shuntaro Furukawa assured that the integration of hardware and software remains the company's top priority:
- Shuntaro Furukawa (Nintendo President): «Creating unique entertainment is our core foundation. Over the past 40 years, we have achieved success precisely through the simultaneous development of both platforms and games. We will continue to give this our highest priority».
- Shinya Takahashi (Head of Development): «Hardware and software development teams work as one single unit. Our approach is not simply to introduce new features, but to find fun gameplay for which the corresponding hardware capabilities are then created. We continue to experiment with new gameplay for Switch 2».
- Ko Shiota (Head of Hardware): noted that the culture of collaboration between engineers and game creators at the company has remained unchanged for decades through constant trials and the search for unconventional forms of interaction.
Management emphasized that although only a fraction of bold prototypes make it to the final release, the company will continue to invest resources in original and experimental entertainment.
