Secret codes discovered in F-Zero GX over 20 years after release

Over 20 years after the release of F-Zero GX, fans have discovered secret codes unlocking rare gold parts and arcade version content.

The cult futuristic racing game F-Zero GX, released on the GameCube back in 2003 in collaboration between Nintendo and SEGA, is still considered one of the franchise's best installments. Over twenty years after its release, dedicated enthusiasts managed to uncover one of the game's biggest secrets by finding secret cheat codes to unlock ultra-rare content.

The secret of Gold Parts, hidden for decades

At the center of attention were the so-called "Gold Parts" for racing craft. Initially, they were available exclusively during special promotional events in Japan, making them practically unobtainable for most players. However, as it turned out, the developers left the ability to unlock them directly in the game using button combinations.

How the new codes work:

  • 8 unique codes were found, adding rare gold parts to the in-game shop's inventory.
  • Three codes can be entered using a single gamepad.
  • Entering the remaining five codes requires the simultaneous use of four controllers, so you'll have to call friends for help.
  • In addition to gold parts, the codes also unlock access to content from the arcade version F-Zero AX—including tracks, craft, and the Dark Schneider.

It is worth noting that entering the codes only makes the items available in the shop, so you will still need in-game tickets to purchase them. As a reminder, you can currently experience F-Zero GX on modern hardware on Switch 2 as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription.
