References to PS3 Removed in Metal Gear Solid 4 for Switch and Switch 2

In Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PS3 references in Metal Gear Solid 4 have been changed.

The collection Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 is preparing for release on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 as early as August 27, 2026. It will finally give players on Nintendo platforms the opportunity to play the iconic Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Changes in the Nintendo Console Version

Attentive fans noticed certain adjustments in the MGS4 remaster even before its official release. In particular, the game appears to have removed or replaced the distinctive references and Easter eggs related to the PlayStation 3, where the game originally debuted as an exclusive.

  • The original MGS4 contained quite a few jokes about the PS3, Blu-ray discs, and the DualShock controller.
  • In the re-release for Nintendo consoles, these elements have been adapted for the new platforms.

The collection's release will allow all fans of the series to once again immerse themselves in the finale of Solid Snake's story on modern portable devices.
