Legendary Return of the Retro Series
The original game Lady Stalker: Challenge from the Past, released in 1995 for the Super Famicom (SNES), was an exciting Action RPG featuring an isometric perspective, puzzle-filled dungeons, and signature humor. Now, over 30 years later, the franchise returns in an unusual format — as a new 2D RPG for the original 8-bit Famicom console.
Kickstarter Success and Physical Release
Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, the project Lady Stalker 2D: The Solitary Ruler of the Calendar will be released on physical cartridges for the Famicom. This time, the game changes its format to a traditional turn-based RPG in the style of the genre's golden age: traveling across the map, conversing with residents of towns and castles, exploring dungeons, and turn-based battles.
The lead developer is the legendary Kan Naito, who worked on Dragon Quest III, Dragon Quest IV, and Landstalker for the Mega Drive, and was also the programmer for the original Lady Stalker. The developer masterfully utilizes the technical constraints of the Famicom hardware to capture the authentic spirit of classic Japanese role-playing games.
