In 2025, leading console giants were forced to raise prices on PlayStation and Xbox devices as well as Nintendo products due to trade tariffs imposed by the US government. However, the US Supreme Court subsequently ruled these tariffs illegal, opening up the opportunity for companies to demand refunds of the funds paid to the state.
