First-person shooters on the classic Game Boy Color console are a real rarity. For a long time, perhaps the only known representative of the genre remained Tyrannosaurus Tex, which was only released in 2018, although it was supposed to come out in the early 2000s. However, on August 13, 2026, the GBC library will be expanded with a new ambitious game — an FPS called WOLF from the development team Rocketship Park.
Features of the new retro shooter
The developers created their own engine with raycasting technology to squeeze the maximum out of the handheld console and give players a new experience. WOLF offers tense and dynamic gameplay with a number of interesting solutions:
- Procedurally generated levels, which makes each playthrough unique.
- Textured walls, depth shading, and high-quality animated visual effects.
- A classic game goal: destroy a certain number of enemies, find the exit key, and escape before your health runs out.
- A radar to track the map structure and enemy positions.
Interestingly, you will be able to play WOLF not only on modern emulators. The game is fully compatible with original Game Boy Color hardware, provided you use an appropriate flash cartridge. This is a perfect opportunity to dust off your old console and put it to the test!
