Massive Soundtrack for the New HD-2D Final Fantasy
Square Enix has announced that the upcoming role-playing game Final Fantasy Resonance will receive a massive official soundtrack. The edition will be released on October 28—just one week after the game itself launches—and will consist of 4 compact discs featuring 120 tracks.
New Music from Noriyasu Agematsu
Renowned composer Noriyasu Agematsu is responsible for the musical score. The soundtrack contains 87 tracks previously composed for the mobile projects Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and War of the Visions, as well as 33 brand-new compositions created specifically for Resonance.
To compare the scale:
- Final Fantasy Resonance — 120 tracks;
- Final Fantasy X — 89 tracks;
- Final Fantasy VII — 85 tracks;
- Final Fantasy VIII — 73 tracks.
The physical 4-CD edition of the soundtrack is already available for pre-order at official Square Enix stores in Europe, North America, and Japan.
A Return to Pixel Classics
Final Fantasy Resonance is crafted in the signature HD-2D visual style known from games such as Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy. The project answers a long-standing question among fans: what would the series look like if it had continued to develop pixel art instead of fully transitioning to 3D. The game's release is expected this October.
