Scalpers are en masse selling the limited Zelda-edition Switch 2 for $850+

Following the launch of pre-orders for the limited Zelda-themed Switch 2, scalpers bought up consoles and listed them for resale at prices starting from $850.

Recently, Nintendo officially announced the limited-edition Switch 2 console styled after the iconic The Legend of Zelda series, scheduled for release on October 29, 2026. However, the start of pre-orders immediately turned into a familiar problem for gamers — instant shortages and a surge in scalper activity.

Hype and sky-high prices on auctions

At most major retailers, available stock was snapped up within practically minutes after pre-orders opened. A significant portion of the batch ended up in the hands of scalpers, who immediately flooded platforms like eBay with their listings.

With the console's recommended retail price set at $520, scalpers are asking $850 or more for it, attempting to profit from dedicated fans of the series.

Is it worth buying from scalpers?

Currently, Nintendo has not disclosed the total production run for the limited Zelda Switch 2 edition; however, experts and the community advise not to rush:

  • Buying consoles at inflated prices only fuels the gray market;
  • Retailers regularly restock batches closer to the official release;
  • There is a high chance of securing an official pre-order at the standard price during subsequent supply waves.
