The producer of the iconic The Legend of Zelda franchise, Eiji Aonuma, has officially received a prestigious state award of France—the Order of Arts and Letters (Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) at the rank of Knight (Chevalier).
Recognition of Global Contribution to Gaming Art
This award is bestowed by the French Ministry of Culture for outstanding merits and significant contributions to the enrichment of artistic and cultural heritage. Aonuma, who has led the development of the Zelda universe for decades, joined the ranks of legendary game designers previously honored with this title:
- Shigeru Miyamoto;
- Michel Ancel;
- Peter Molyneux.
Touching Ceremony
Although the conferral of the order was known in advance, the official presentation took place only now. At the ceremony, Eiji Aonuma gave a speech and touchingly addressed his wife with the words: “Thank you for walking this path with me, let's continue our adventure together.”
