Dragon's Dogma 2 on Switch 2 Will Have a 60 FPS Option Thanks to Frame Generation

Capcom has confirmed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 for Nintendo Switch 2 will support 60 FPS using frame generation with customizable settings.

Frame Generation for Greater Smoothness

Less than a month remains until the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen on Nintendo Switch 2 — the launch will take place on October 9, 2026. During Tokyo Game Show 2026, new details emerged about the game's performance on the new console.

In an interview with VJump, the developers revealed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will run at a base 30 frames per second on Switch 2. However, a special 60 FPS option is also provided for players, achieved through frame generation technology.

Implementation Details and Latency Management

Frame generation or interpolation technology uses algorithms to insert intermediate frames between rendered frames, making movement significantly smoother. Although this approach can typically increase input lag, Capcom assures that they have meticulously tuned the system:

  • The development team implemented special optimizations so players won't feel noticeable lag during regular gameplay.
  • The 60 FPS mode with frame generation will be optional — it can be enabled or disabled in the settings at any time.
  • Users will be able to decide for themselves what is more important to them: maximum visual smoothness or absolute responsiveness at native 30 FPS.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will bring the grand fantasy adventure to Switch 2 on October 9, 2026.
