Licenses Expire, but the Chance of a Return Remains
The developers of the popular asymmetrical horror game Dead by Daylight, available among other platforms on the Nintendo Switch hybrid console, commented on the situation regarding the forced removal of licensed content. Due to the expiration of licensing agreements, some iconic movie franchise characters periodically disappear from digital storefronts.
Studio Behaviour Interactive noted that despite all the team's efforts to extend contracts, legal nuances sometimes make it impossible to retain them. At the same time, the developers assured that such iconic horror figures as Chucky, Pinhead, or Michael Myers have an "open invitation" to return as soon as the rights holders agree to new terms of cooperation.
What this means for players:
- Players who have already purchased licensed characters before their removal retain full access to them.
- Removal exclusively affects the possibility of new DLC purchases by other players.
- The development team remains in contact with rights holders and hopes for re-releases of the content in the future.
