Unexpected Leak of Atlus's Cult JRPG
Nearly two minutes of gameplay from a project resembling a full remake of the very first game in the Persona series has surfaced online. According to the leak, the updated version is subtitled Be Your True Mind.
The video first appeared on the file-sharing service Gofile with a Japanese filename translating to "Megami Ibunroku Persona Remake", after which it spread across the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit.
Persona 5 Style and Familiar Details
The published footage shows visuals and elements characteristic of modern entries in the series from Atlus:
- Stylish and dynamic user interface menus;
- A combat system visually reminiscent of Persona 5 and the recent Persona 3 Reload;
- A short social link cutscene in a distinct graphic novel-like style.
Attentive fans noticed a number of details that may corroborate the authenticity of the leak. In particular, Unreal Engine debug text is visible in the corner of the screen (the engine Atlus transitioned to for Persona 3 Reload), a rearranged Pandora theme from the original PlayStation game plays, and the protagonist is labeled as "Boy With Earring" — exactly how he was referred to in Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.
Atlus has not yet officially announced a remake of the first Persona, so any unofficial information should be taken with a healthy grain of skepticism.
