Publisher Bushiroad Games together with developers from studio Frontwing (known for the Grisaia series and the game GINKA) have released a duo of new visual novels on Nintendo Switch: Lilac: side Witch and Lilac: side Wizard. Both games offer alternative perspectives on a shared story set in a magic academy.
Two Perspectives on One Story
The events take place at Lilac Academy—an educational institution created by a legendary mage to unite humans and wizards. The plot tells the story of a human named Emil, who despises mages but enters the academy for a large monetary reward to save a sick mother, and a clumsy mage named Henri.
The main feature of the release is its division into two versions:
- Lilac: side Witch — a version featuring an all-female cast of main characters.
- Lilac: side Wizard — a version featuring an all-male cast of characters.
Despite sharing the same core plot, the versions differ in character designs, voice acting, and unique narrative details. By purchasing one version, the other can be unlocked as additional DLC content.
Project Features
- Exquisite visual style and character design by industry veteran Oyari Ashito.
- Scenario by Yuka Kono, who created the original theatrical productions that served as the basis for the game.
- A touching story of friendship, overcoming prejudice, and finding mutual understanding.
