An unexpected release for original Switch owners
Publisher Atari, together with Pipeworks Studios and Toho International, prepared a pleasant surprise. Although the cult arena fighting game Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered was announced for the new Switch 2 console, the game unexpectedly became available for first-generation Nintendo Switch users simultaneously with the release.
Just a few days before release, the developers hinted that a version for the original console was possible in the future, but no one expected it to launch on the same day as the Switch 2 version.
Kaiju battles return
The updated version of the classic 2002 game, built on Unreal Engine 5, offers:
- Iconic giant monsters of the franchise, including Showa-era Mechagodzilla;
- Fully destructible arenas in major cities, such as Tokyo and San Francisco;
- An updated content unlocking and upgrade system;
- A full-fledged online multiplayer mode.
The game is already available for purchase in the Nintendo eShop digital store for both generations of the hybrid system.
