The EGGCONSOLE retro re-release lineup is expanding with another classic game. On November 5, Nintendo Switch will see the release of EGGCONSOLE Harry Fox MSX Special—an updated version of the adventure game from studio Microcabin, which was first released in 1986.
A touching story and updated gameplay
The game tells a heartwarming story about a mother fox embarking on a long and dangerous journey to the Reel Shrine to find fried tofu (abura-age)—rumored to be a miraculous cure for her gravely ill cub.
In its time, the MSX Special version offered a significant reimagining of the original mechanics, turning the project into a full-fledged RPG adventure. Key features of the game include:
- 2D map exploration: free movement across the world with a convenient command menu system.
- Three-dimensional dungeons: exploring labyrinths from a first-person perspective for deeper immersion.
- Role-playing elements: health gauge (HP), battles with wild beasts, and leveling up.
- Day and night cycle: dynamic time of day opens access to various side quests and interactions with the colorful inhabitants of the world.
The release will preserve the fairytale-like and warm atmosphere of the original, giving Nintendo Switch owners the opportunity to experience a rare gem of the MSX era.
