Evolution of a Legend: From 64-Bit Polygons to the Power of Switch 2
The iconic game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has received a massive update on the Nintendo Switch 2 console. Players can now clearly see the colossal difference between the Nintendo 64 original, the Nintendo 3DS version, and the modern, full-fledged remake for the next-generation console.
The new version for Switch 2 offers not only fully revamped, next-level graphics, but also a number of modern innovations:
- Voiced cutscenes and expanded story dialogues.
- Full symphonic orchestral arrangement of the soundtrack.
- Updated camera and character movement controls.
- The ability to play the ocarina using the built-in Switch 2 microphone (with voice or your own musical instrument).
App and amiibo Integration
Along with the game, the ZELDA NOTES service has become available in the Nintendo Switch mobile app, helping track daily progress and solve spatial puzzles using location photos.
The remake also supports amiibo figures. Scanning any amiibo from The Legend of Zelda series will provide useful in-game bonuses, while upcoming Young Link and Young Zelda figures (scheduled for release in 2027) will unlock unique retro masks for Link.
