Success at PAX West and Global Recognition
Following a high-profile release in Japan, where sales exceeded 200,000 copies, publisher NIS America reported new achievements for the creepy farming simulator Village in the Shade from the creators of Yomawari. The game has already gathered over 200,000 wishlists on Steam and maintains over 90% positive reviews.
During the PAX West 2026 expo, American players were able to try the project in person for the first time. Game designer Yu Mizokami and development director Mio Katsumata hosted a special panel, "A Chat in the Shade," where they shared behind-the-scenes production details and drew game art live.
What Is Village in the Shade About?
Players travel to the Japanese mountain village of Kagatsu, filled with eerie mysteries. Here, you can grow crops, arrange your homestead, attend traditional festivals, and meet the locals. However, strict rules must be followed: do not talk to strangers, do not leave the village boundaries, and under no circumstances go outside at night.

- Traditions and Entertainment: Take part in summer festivals and cherry blossom viewing.
- Village Secrets: Uncover the dark truth of Kagatsu or try to stay away from danger.
The game's international release is scheduled for October 27. A limited physical edition priced at $89.99 is also available for order, featuring a collector's box, artbook, soundtrack, acrylic block, and a set of metal pins.
