Naoki Hamaguchi, director of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, shared impressive details about the development of the final installment of the series — Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which will be released simultaneously on all current platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2, on April 8, 2027.
Over 100 Hours for a Full Playthrough
In an interview with GameSpot, the project lead admitted that he has personally completed the game 46 times already, testing every corner and mechanic of the virtual world. Speaking about the testing process, Hamaguchi also hinted at the duration of the upcoming adventure:
“If you do a standard playthrough from start to finish and check every asset and element, it will easily take over a hundred hours. Of course, I can't do that every time, because as a director my time is limited. So during some sessions I skip battles and focus purely on the story, while in others I pay attention to other aspects. Even on business trips or between interviews, I pick up a controller and test the latest build of the game.”
An Ambitious Trilogy Finale
In Final Fantasy VII Revelation, players can expect the culmination of a massive story that fans have been anticipating for many years:
- Complete freedom of movement: the legendary airship Highwind will allow players to travel across the entire planet without artificial restrictions and parachute into any point on the map;
- New playable characters: Vincent Valentine with lightning-fast shooting and beast transformations, as well as Cid Highwind with his spear, will become full-fledged combatants in your party;
- FITS equipment system: the ability to change characters' outfits, unlocking classic ability sets (such as Black Mage or Warrior);
- New and reimagined locations: the sunny Mideel archipelago, the warrior nation of Wutai, and the snow-covered expanses of the Northern Continent.
