Another wave of layoffs at Supermassive Games
The British studio Supermassive, best known for its cinematic horror games such as Until Dawn, The Quarry and The Dark Pictures anthology, as well as the recent Little Nightmares 3, has once again found itself at the center of unpleasant staffing news. The company announced another wave of layoffs, which this time will affect up to 75 employees.

In their official statement, the developers explained this decision with the following steps:
- A consultation process regarding staff reductions has begun.
- Up to 75 colleagues are expected to be laid off to ensure the financial stability of the studio.
- Management promises to provide maximum support to everyone affected by this difficult decision.
Third wave of layoffs in two years
Unfortunately, these cuts are already the third for Supermassive in the last two years. In July 2025, the company announced the layoff of 36 employees, which was explained by the need to adapt the team's structure to general changes in the gaming industry. And even earlier, in February 2024, during a massive reorganization of the studio, 90 specialists lost their jobs.
The developers' latest projects were the sci-fi horror Directive 8020 and the adventure game Little Nightmares 3, which was released, in particular, on Nintendo consoles. Both games faced rather mixed reviews from the gaming community and critics.
