Publishers Curveball Games and Top Hat Studios, together with developers from Slime King Games, have announced a slight delay for the physical edition of the colorful adventure game Under the Island for Nintendo Switch. The cartridge release is now scheduled for October 9, 2026, priced at $34.99 / £29.99.
A Nice Bonus for Collectors
As compensation for the short delay, there will be a pleasant addition: each physical edition will now include a compact mini-artbook featuring illustrations from the game.
What Is Under the Island About?
Under the Island is a classic 2D action-adventure with the spirit and aesthetic of the 90s, crafted in expressive pixel art:
- Plot: The main protagonist Nia moves to Seashell Island and, alongside her local friend Avocado, tries to unravel the mystery of why the entire island is gradually sinking to the ocean floor.
- World: Six unique interconnected biomes to explore — from a creepy living greenhouse to icy caves.
- Gameplay: Puzzles, artifact hunting, befriending animals, and battles with quirky enemies (like digger wolves or magic-spewing eggplants).
The game's digital release took place earlier this year, so fans of physical copies will soon finally be able to add the cartridge to their collections.
