The Tale of Mara & Moa Nintendo Switch Release Delayed to 2027

Zelda-style adventure game The Tale of Mara & Moa from a Brazilian studio will be released on Switch in 2027. A new trailer has been published.

The indie adventure The Tale of Mara & Moa, first announced for Nintendo Switch back in 2025, has been delayed. The developers from the Brazilian team Cabana Game Studio announced that the game's release has been postponed to 2027 across all platforms, including Nintendo's console. Along with this news, the creators presented a new atmospheric trailer.

Journey into the Heart of Brazilian Mythology

The game is inspired by classic exploration adventures like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, as well as modern indie hits such as Tunic and Death's Door. However, instead of the familiar European Middle Ages, players will immerse themselves in the world of Brazil's indigenous peoples and their ancient myths.

The story follows two young indigenous siblings who accidentally awaken an ancient shadow named Charía. Now they must embark on a dangerous journey through pristine jungles, flooded ruins, and treacherous swamps to uncover the legacy of the Oripi civilization.

Key Game Features:

  • Dual Synergy: Mara delivers powerful strikes with a traditional wooden club called a "borduna," while Moa controls enemy crowds with an accurate slingshot. Switching between characters happens instantly.
  • Mythological Creatures: Encounters with guardians of folklore—such as the solar forest spirit Anhangá or the river snake spirits Norato and Caninana.
  • Survival Cooking: Instead of ordinary health potions, the heroes gather açaí, guarana, cassava, and tapioca to cook meals that boost stats in combat.
  • Orchestral Soundtrack: The main theme by composer Arlam Júnior was performed by the renowned German orchestra Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg.
