Stern Pinball, the world's largest manufacturer of pinball machines, together with The Pokémon Company International, has released a documentary video about the creation of its Pokémon by Stern Pinball machine line. In the video, the developers shared details of the design process and talked about the technical challenges the team had to overcome.
How the Iconic Pokémon Universe Pinball Was Created
Built on Stern's proprietary SPIKE 3 platform, this machine offers players a unique experience of catching pocket monsters, training, and battling rivals and Team Rocket right on the silver ball playfield.
Among the key features of the pinball machine:
- Four Habitats: the ability to travel across different biomes, catch favorite Pokémon using a mechanical Poké Ball, and build your own collection.
- Animatronic Pikachu: an interactive figure on the playfield reacts to in-game events and cheers on the player.
- Meowth Balloon: an interactive Team Rocket element and electromagnets in premium versions that create chaos on the playfield during battles with boss Giovanni.
- Original Style: integrated video clips from the classic Pokémon anime, authentic voice acting, and the franchise's legendary main theme.
- Stern Insider Connected: players can save caught Pokémon to their digital profile via the app.
