Card Roguelike The Royal Writ Launches on Nintendo Switch on September 10

Medieval tactical roguelike deckbuilder The Royal Writ is coming to Nintendo Switch on September 10 with all up-to-date updates.

The Royal Decree Has Already Been Issued

Publisher Yogscast Games, together with developers from Save Sloth Studios, have announced the console release of The Royal Writ. The medieval roguelike deckbuilder featuring lane-based tactical combat will launch on Nintendo Switch on September 10, 2026.

The Royal Writ combines the visual style of book illustrations, a dose of dark humor, and uncompromising tactical gameplay with card permadeath. Players will recruit an unusual army of ants, bats, and lizards, sending them forward across multiple lanes toward enemy fortifications. But beware: if a unit dies or reaches the enemy base, it disappears from the deck forever.

Switch Version Features

The console release will include all the latest improvements and content updates from the PC version:

  • Balance changes to the final boss and the game's second act.
  • New equipment for units, including a mail bag and a fishing rod.
  • Four new order letter cards: Excision, Last Resort, Excavation Permit, and Mushroom Break.
  • Full control optimization and bug fixes for smooth console gameplay.
