The Pokémon Company has revealed details of a new expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, dedicated to the legendary Pokémon Rayquaza. The set, titled Mega Evolution — Delta Reign, will go on sale on November 6.
The Return of Mega Rayquaza and New Mechanics
The main star of the expansion will be Mega Rayquaza, returning to the Pokémon TCG for the first time since 2015 after the release of the XY — Ancient Origins set. In total, the expansion will contain over 135 cards:
- 4 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards (Rayquaza, Golurk, Malamar, and Golisopod);
- 6 Pokémon ex cards;
- 6 Stadium cards forming 3 Legendary Stadiums;
- 14 Illustration Rare Pokémon cards;
- 17 Ultra Rare Pokémon and Trainer cards;
- 6 Special Illustration Rare cards.
One of the key new features will be Legendary Stadiums. This is a mechanic where two separate Stadium cards combine on the playing field to create a single panoramic illustration. Both halves of the stadium will appear in the same booster pack.
Release Dates and Prerelease Events
For those who do not want to wait for the official release, prerelease tournaments at partner stores will begin as early as October 24. Digitally on the Pokémon TCG Live platform, the Delta Reign expansion will become available a day earlier than the physical release — on November 5.
