Pokémon Champions project director Masaaki Hoshino commented on the lack of plans to add single-player modes to the game for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
Focus exclusively on competitive multiplayer
According to the developers, Pokémon Champions was created with a single clear goal — to become the franchise's main competitive platform for the near future. Despite requests from part of the community to add story or training single-player campaigns, the team does not plan to scatter resources.
The main reasons for this decision:
- Esports priority: the game is optimized for ranked PvP battles and balance between live players.
- Ongoing support: the creators' attention is focused on adding new Pokémon, updating the meta, and improving netcode.
- Clear positioning: for single-player experiences, fans are advised to turn their attention to the franchise's mainline role-playing games.
Thus, Pokémon Champions will remain an exclusively multiplayer battler focused on competition and the online community.
