Unexpected Role Change for Sombra
Blizzard is preparing one of the boldest and most talked-about hero reworks in the ten-year history of Overwatch. In the shooter's fifth season, the hacker Sombra will officially change her specialization, moving from the damage (DPS) role to the support character category.
Community Reaction and Developers' Stance
The developers' decision caused a mixed reaction among fans, as by no means all hero mains are thrilled with the transformation into a support. However, Blizzard emphasizes that the character will not lose her identity:
- Aggressive combat style and high lethality will remain key elements of her gameplay;
- The skill set will be adapted for team support and battlefield control;
- The rework is designed to expand the variety of support hero choices.
The updated Sombra will appear in the game with the start of the new season, including on the Nintendo Switch platform.
