During Gamescom Opening Night Live, Capcom presented a spectacular new trailer for the action game Onimusha: Way of the Sword and announced the release of a public demo on Nintendo Switch 2.
New Details and Demo Content
The game's fresh trailer showcased a series of intense boss battles, including the wind and thunder duo Ifuu and Burai, a duel between the protagonist Miyamoto Musashi and Dokyo, as well as the first footage of the awakened Oni form. The updated gameplay can be experienced right now in the demo.
In the demo, players have access to a side quest in the surreal Oni Refuge location, where they can master new mechanics and fight the giant boss Daidara.
Release and Editions
The full release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled for September 4, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders are already open:
- Standard Edition — available on cartridges and in digital format.
- Deluxe Edition — a digital version with additional cosmetic items and amulets for Musashi.
- Premium Deluxe Edition — includes expanded cosmetic sets for the protagonist and allies, as well as a digital soundtrack.
Players who place an order before September 24 will receive early access bonuses.
