Nintendo Warned of a Security Vulnerability in the Switch
Nintendo has published an official security advisory detailing a discovered exploit for the Nintendo Switch console lineup. Under certain conditions, attackers could gain access to data or execute third-party code on the device.
How Does the Vulnerability Work?
According to Nintendo, the attack is based on close-range remote interaction. However, the conditions for its execution are quite limited:
- The attacker must be located near the victim's console.
- To carry out the attack, a special QR code displayed on the console must be scanned directly.
- If successful, a third party could potentially gain access to certain data stored on the Switch or execute arbitrary code.
Nintendo urges users to remain vigilant and install the latest system software updates in a timely manner to protect their devices from potential threats.
