Six new retro indie projects for Nintendo Switch

Studio Nami Tentou held its own Summer Game Showcase presentation, entirely dedicated to games for Nintendo's hybrid console. The team announced six projects across various genres: two games become available today, while the other four will release throughout September 2026.

Full list of games and their release dates:

  • Project City (August 27, 2026): a top-down crime action game in an open city, inspired by classic arcade sandboxes. Players can look forward to street racing, courier or taxi driving jobs, shootouts with police, and ATM hacking.
  • Chew Chew Mimic (August 27, 2026): a humorous 100-level puzzle game where you must guide four knights through traps straight into a voracious mimic chest using springs, blocks, and arrows.
  • Gelatinous: Humanity Lost (September 3, 2026): a metroidvania about a treasure hunter who turned into a blob of slime in an ancient Amazonian temple. Master the gelatinous hero's new abilities to regain human form.
  • KUBO 3 (September 10, 2026): a vibrant retro adventure across four unique worlds with boss battles. The edition also includes the first two installments in the series — KUBO and KUBO 2.
  • Jane Austen’s 8-Bit Adventure (September 17, 2026): a 2D platformer where the famous English author Jane Austen finds herself in an 8-bit game and battles her own characters using a quill pen.
  • Courier (September 24, 2026): an 8-bit cyberpunk action game about courier Conrad, who investigates a corporate conspiracy and the spread of a deadly virus across the neon-lit streets of a metropolis.
