Masahiro Sakurai Stated That He Has No Plans to Retire Yet

Kirby and Super Smash Bros. series creator Masahiro Sakurai has assured fans that he has no plans to retire and will continue creating games.

Masahiro Sakurai is one of the most prominent figures in the modern gaming industry. Fruitful cooperation with Nintendo brought him worldwide recognition and the love of fans, resulting in iconic series such as Kirby, Super Smash Bros., as well as the unmatched Kid Icarus: Uprising. It seems that any project under his leadership invariably becomes a masterpiece or a cult classic.

"No Plans for Retirement"

If you were worried that the renowned developer might decide to step down in the near future, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Recently, an event celebrating the 40th anniversary of the legendary Japanese magazine Famitsu took place in Tokyo. Sakurai was among the guests of honor, and during his speech, he made it clear: he has no plans to retire.

Sakurai is currently 56 years old, so he still has many years of fruitful creative activity ahead of him. However, the game designer did not disclose details about his current project:

  • Is it a return to a large-scale title for the Nintendo platform?
  • Or perhaps an entirely new, unexpected experiment?

In any case, the gaming community eagerly awaits any official news and announcements from the maestro.
