Studio Digital Cybercherries has announced the release of the biggest update in history for HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed on Nintendo Switch. This massive patch finally brings the hybrid console version on par with the Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation versions, while also introducing full crossplay.

- 6 new enemy types: Ninja Joe, Tiny Trotters, bRobot, Alien Queen, Alien Queenlet, and Shock Soldiers.
- 3 new maps: The Funderdome, Adventure Dunes, and Rental Lair.
- 5 new weapon types: Freeze Ray, Missile Launcher, Double Barrelled Machine Gun, Mine Launcher, and Teleport Gun.
- 2 new playable characters: Major Evil and the plush bear Teddy.
- New game modes: Infection, Capture the Battery, and King of the Hill, as well as reworked Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch.
- Updated interface: a completely overhauled game menu and lobby.
- Customization and cosmetics: plenty of new skins, heads, an updated figure packaging system, as well as an upgrade to a newer version of Unreal Engine and improved netcode.
Why did the update take so long?
Studio representative Joe Henson noted that the Digital Cybercherries team is very small, and the entire development process was carried out in-house. The team had to upgrade Unreal Engine, completely rewrite the netcode to support crossplay, and deal with legacy codebases; however, the developers are thrilled to have fulfilled their promise to Switch players.
