Mina the Hollower Saved Yacht Club Games: Shovel Knight Creators Are Making a 3D Game

The success of Mina the Hollower ensured financial stability for Yacht Club Games, and the developers have already moved on to creating a new 3D game.

The Success of Mina the Hollower and the Future of Yacht Club Games

Yacht Club Games, the studio known for the iconic Shovel Knight series, shared news about its current status and future projects during a recent Reddit AMA session. Following the release of the retro adventure Mina the Hollower, which sold over 500,000 copies in its first two weeks, the studio finally gained the necessary financial stability.

Previously, the developers noted that the release of Mina the Hollower was a crucial moment of survival for the studio following an unsuccessful attempt to split the team across several simultaneous developments. Now, most of the team is reunited and working on a new large-scale 3D project.

A New 3D Game on the Horizon

Although the developers have not officially confirmed the game's title, fans are expecting the long-discussed Shovel Knight 3D. Studio representative Alec Faulkner noted only one thing: "Most of us are now working on a 3D game, and it is going to be incredibly cool!"

As for Mina the Hollower, the developers continue to support it and are preparing new updates, including:

  • Expanded game world randomizer options;
  • Randomization of enemies and bosses;
  • Additional difficulty modifiers;
  • Special features for speedrunners.
