Elden Ring Patch Closes Free Content Loophole
Following the high-profile release of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the new Nintendo Switch 2 console, studio FromSoftware faced an unexpected problem. Along with the game's release on the new platform, the developers released a special DLC pack for other systems containing the edition's exclusive bonuses. However, players quickly found a way to transfer these items for free using in-game trading mechanics.
Update 1.17.1 Fixes
The fresh patch is intended to completely eliminate the possibility of duping and unauthorized transfer of Tarnished Edition items:
- Blocked the ability to drop and transfer exclusive cosmetic and additional items to other players in multiplayer.
- Fixed inventory synchronization errors during cross-platform interaction.
- Improved overall game stability across all supported platforms, including Switch 2.
Now, players wishing to get the edition's unique bonuses on other platforms will have to purchase the official DLC pack or enjoy the game directly on Nintendo Switch 2.
