Studio CD Projekt Red revealed new details about the updated version of its iconic role-playing game — The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, including features of the Nintendo Switch 2 edition.
Unique features for Nintendo Switch 2
The version for the new console fully utilizes the unique capabilities of the platform:
- Motion controls: players will be able to cast witcher signs, shoot the crossbow, throw bombs, drink potions, as well as speed up or stop Roach using gestures.
- Gyroscope and mouse support: precise gyro aiming and alternative mouse control for greater convenience in combat.
- Touchscreen: convenient map and game menu navigation, as well as the ability to play Gwent with touch controls.
Graphics and gameplay improvements
Thanks to the power of Nintendo Switch 2, the remaster received improved graphics and stable performance. In addition, the update includes an overhauled combat system and animations, a revised skill and progression system, updated monster behavior, transmogrification, an expanded photo mode, and much more.
Free upgrade and new expansion
Players who already own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on the original Nintendo Switch will receive the remaster for Switch 2 completely free of charge. Owners of digital copies can place a free pre-order in the eShop right now, while cartridge owners will receive the update on release day — September 29.
A third major expansion, Songs of the Past, was also announced, where Geralt will journey to the new region of Letten. Its release on Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for 2027.
